New acquisitions of Artservis’ Collection

We have included yet another new art works in Artservis’ Collection: Tomaž Grom’s two sound performances Gross (2006) and Offcuts (2008).

The sound performance Gross was primarily concerned with exploring beaurocratical conditions and repercussions thereof in art creation, while the focus of Offcuts was not so much on what preconstitues artistic production but on the fate of the artistic product itself.

New acquisition of Artservis’ Collection

We have included yet another new art work in Artservis’ Collection: Ema Kugler’s LONTANO or What would do Robert Willson, if ….??? (2007).

Ema Kugler applied on the public call at the Slovene Ministry of Culture and City of Ljubljana to receive funding for her project LONTANO in the field of performance art. Grant approved by the commissions was so low that artist was unable to realize the project, but did not want to spend funds for so called work in progress or improvisation of original concept.
Therefore she performed a manifesto in the space of the abandoned ground of the Old Postal building on October 30, 2007.

Artservis’ Suitcase on exhibition DIVA at Škuc Gallery

28th of May – 20th June 2009
Škuc Gallery, Stari trg 21, Ljubljana

At the exhibition DIVA at Škuc Gallery we have exhibited an example of a mobile archive Artservis’ Suitcase. The suitcase contains Artservis’ Collection of art works that speak about production conditions in the cultural sphere.

Barbara Borčić the curator of the show has designed in collaboration with co-workers the presentation of contents and methods of forming the DIVA Station. The visitors of the exhibition were able to view video works form physical archive in the video viewing-room. They were also able to get acquainted with technologic development of video art at one of the rooms at the exhibition place where we presented old and new video equipment and a schematic presentation of making and manipulating with the video signal. One of the rooms contained also screening of video works from other international artists, the so called “archive rarities”. In another room we presented curatorial selections of video programme entitled Videospotting and one whole room was dedicated to presentation of SCCA on-line archive and other documentation projects amongst them also Artservis’ Suitcase.

The design of the exhibition space was done by the artist Damijan Kracina, who placed the
suitcase with computer wiring in front of a black plinth. The suitcase in this case more fixt than usually has become an interesting exponent which has been inviting the visitors to scroll through its “computer hart and brain”, elastic keyboard being a big part of its appeal.
