Description of work:
The series Career Confessions consists of interviews with three renowned American visual artists of mid-generation. Kiki Smith, Robin Winters and Alex and Allison Grey reveal the background, methods and secrets of their success as well as their positioning within the art system. The works refer thematically to the artistic career of selected interlocutors and the conditions of their artistic production, mainly to those aspects of artistic creation that usually remain concealed.

From the interview with Kiki Smith:
Marija Mojca Pungerčar: What kind of outfit do you choose for an important business meeting; elegant, business or casual?
Kiki Smith: No, no, I like fashion. One of the basic reasons for that is that I have always disliked that romantic version of artist with oil paint under her nails, that cultural romantic notion of artists being in some ways outside of culture. I don’t want to be ousted in the artistic group, I don’t want people to look down on me. I wear designers’ clothes as much as it is possible. Some clothes I buy are new, some are second hand. Even I can wear a thousand-dollar dress, that is my decision!
